APVA Support – An Easy Way to Get Compensation
The latest APVA call for compensation started on January 16, 2024. It will continue until the fund's resources are exhausted, and there are no talks about other calls yet, so we urge you not to delay. To promote sustainable mobility – the purchase of bicycles and scooters – 8 million euros will be allocated (this fund will also be used to promote public transport).
For those purchasing a regular bicycle, a compensation of 300 euros is provided, and for those choosing an electric bicycle, this amount reaches 500 euros. By scrapping an old and polluting vehicle, you can apply for compensation for two bicycles. The maximum support amount is 1000 euros.
How to Use APVA Support to Replace an Old Car with a Bicycle?
The process of obtaining support is simple. Hand over your old and polluting car to vehicle handlers and obtain an ENTP certificate proving the scrapping of the non-operational vehicle. Then choose a regular or electric bicycle. When evaluating its price, remember – you will receive 500 euros for an electric bicycle and 300 euros for a regular one. You can apply for compensation for two less polluting vehicles. Those who want to spend active time and travel comfortably can use the support to purchase both a regular and an electric bicycle. And if several family members will ride the bike – two regular or electric bicycles.
After paying for the purchase, fill out the application in the APVA information system at apvis.apva.lt and submit the VAT invoice and payment proof documents (cash register receipt, bank transfer copy, cash receipt).
The compensation payment is made to the applicant within 30 calendar days from the decision date. Important: after purchasing a bicycle, do not delay submitting the documents, as the fund allocated for compensations is limited.
Why Buy a Regular or Electric Bicycle?
The short answer is simple: cycling is a lot of fun and very healthy. But if you need more evidence, let's look at what scientists say.
Scientists have found that in terms of energy efficiency, a bicycle is 5 times more efficient than walking. This means that in most cases, it will take less energy to cover 1 km by bike than walking or running. Even more impressive numbers appear when comparing a bicycle to a car.
Burning 100 calories, you can travel up to 5 km, while with the same amount of energy, a car would travel only 85 meters. This means that a bicycle is the most sustainable means of transport, with a CO2 footprint close to zero. And you won't be stuck in traffic jams while riding a bike!
For people who need a primary means of transportation for commuting, or those who are unsure about their physical fitness or health, all doubts will be dispelled by an electric bicycle. This means of transport is convenient because it allows you to put as much effort into pedaling as you want. An electric bicycle is also indispensable if your daily route is hilly. With the right accessories, you can ride such a bike in any season and carry various loads. For example, by purchasing a special child bike seat or trailer, you can take your child to kindergarten.
More About APVA Support
The Environmental Projects Management Agency of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania, abbreviated as APVA, has been implementing measures since 2019 that encourage people to switch to less polluting transport. The fourth measure, "Promotion of Public Transport and Other Alternative Less Polluting Mobility Measures for Individuals", has already been announced. Once the country's vehicle fleet is renewed, these measures will be stopped, so we encourage you to take advantage of the call for support now.
