Bicycle Inner Tube
Like a car tire, it’s recommended to have a spare bicycle inner tube. Due to various sizes, different valve types, and other parameters, choosing the right inner tube isn’t always simple. Let us guide you to find the best bicycle inner tube for your needs.
First, consider the size of the bike wheel and tire diameter, usually indicated on the tire’s edge and measured in centimeters (e.g., 700 × 20-25) or inches (e.g., 29x1.9"). Alongside this, choose the appropriate valve type and length. Since different types of bicycles have specific wheel sizes and tire widths, you can also select an inner tube based on your bike type. If you prefer a particular brand, the manufacturer becomes another selection criterion.
Continental inner tubes strike a balance between flexibility and durability, crafted from butyl—a material mix resistant to punctures. Schwalbe inner tubes cater to various needs. Some are lightweight and flexible, like the Schwalbe Extra Light 28 inner tube, while others, such as the Schwalbe Air Plus 29, are reinforced for extreme riding conditions.
Choose the right inner tube from a wide range of brands that suit your requirements.
Bicycle Inner Tube Sizes
Inner tube sizes match the wheel size and width. On our website, sizes are displayed in both inches and millimeters, ranging from 10 to 29 inches. The sizes are also indicated in product names.
For example, “Continental Tour 28 Tube | SV 42 mm” means it is a 28-inch tube, while “SV 42 mm” specifies the valve type and length. Valve types and their specifics are discussed in the sections below.
Bicycle Wheel Sizes
Children’s wheel sizes start from 10-12", while adult bicycle wheels can go up to 29". The inner tube size must match the wheel size.
Check the markings on the edge of your bicycle tire to find the wheel size and tire diameter. These parameters may be measured in centimeters (e.g., 700x20-25) or inches (e.g., 29x1.9").
The inner tube is selected based on the wheel size and width. On the "Bicycle Inner Tubes" page, use the filters on the left to choose the wheel size and see all relevant products. The size is also indicated in the product name, e.g., "Specialized 29” 1.75-2.4 Tube."

Bicycle Valve Types
Valves are categorized as AV, SV, and DV. Here’s a description of each:
AV (Schrader) – Larger and shorter than Presta valves, they resemble car tire valves. Before buying, ensure your wheel is compatible, as Schrader valves won’t fit a Presta valve hole.
SV (Presta) – Slimmer and longer than Schrader valves, with a threaded tip for securing a pump. Some Presta valves have replaceable cores, but handle them carefully to avoid accidental removal.
DV (Dunlop) – Less common today, Dunlop valves share similarities with Schrader valves but are inflated using a Presta-compatible pump head.
Valve Length
Valve lengths range from 32 mm to 100 mm. How to choose? The valve must be long enough to extend through the rim for easy access with a pump.
Standard valves are typically 40 mm long. If you have deep-section aerodynamic rims, choose valves 60-80 mm or longer. For extremely deep rims, you’ll need valve extenders.
What to Do If Your Desired Model Is Unavailable?
With so many models available, not all are stocked in physical stores or even in manufacturers’ warehouses. If an item is in stock, you can purchase it immediately. If it’s available at the manufacturer’s warehouse, it can be ordered and will take about a week to arrive in Lithuania.
If an item is sold out, don’t give up or settle for a less suitable option. Contact the sellers, who can provide information on restocking or upcoming shipments.
